Sourced from dry farmed hillside vineyards in the western hills of our AVA, our barrel aged Tempranillo spends 2 years in French oak barrels and a little over a year in bottle before it's release. The tannins and structure deliver a classic bold Tempranillo. This is a rich wine with dark fruit, and a touch of spicy oak on the finish. Best served with grilled steak or hearty braised meats.
Spicy clove and black pepper nose leads to a depth of fruit and complex aromas. Dense layers of cherry and spice on the pallate lead to a supple finish.
Each vintage we age half our Tempranillo in large oak casks (Cask 11) and the balance in traditional small oak barrels. This is the much anticipated release of our 2013 barrel aged Tempranillo. Aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels for 24months allows the tannins to soften slowly while improving complexity.
