2015 Susan's Vineyard Pinot Noir
Susan's Vineyard is a high elevation vineyard located in the Umpqua Valley. Planted all to Dijon Clones this vineyard exhibits the classic Oregon Pinot Noir characters of elegant fruit and forest floor. Vintage 2015 was a warm year and thus one of the earliest harvest dates on record. We harvested on September 30th nearly two weeks earlier than average. For the single vineyard bottling we chose a barrel lot of Clone 777 that was fermented with 50% whole cluster. This method of fermenting on the stems with the berries intact contributes beautiful raspberry frambois character to the wine. Aging in once used French Oak for 12 months softened the tannins to a silky texture.
The complex nose is full of Cherry, Raspberry, vanilla, baking spice and forest floor. As you taste the wine you will enjoy the silk texture with sweet fruit and structured tannins wrapped in beautiful acidity. The finish is layered in red fruit and a hint of crushed rose petal.
